Game Expectations

What to expect, what to bring
All right! You've been on the forums, you've scoured the internet,
you've talked to friends, you may have even purchased an AEG.
Now you want to go to a game.
You're going from chairsofter to airsofter!
How exciting!
Here's what to expect, along with reminders of what to bring.
What to Expect
- Expect to have fun! Expect to hang out with other Airsoft enthusiasts
who are there to have fun.
- Expect to be shot. To help minimize the sting:
- Cover your skin with clothing, at least. No shorts, wear long sleeves.
- Wear a balaclava or paintball mask.
- Wear armored paintball gloves or heavy cloth gloves. Finger-hits really hurt.
- Remember, lots of airsofters wear these things. You won't be considered a wuss.
- Occasionally you will be shot after you are already
out because another player did not realize you were already hit.
You can mimize this by yelling "HIT! HIT! HIT!" when you are shot,
immediately holding your gun and arms up over your head, and/or
bringing a "dead rag" to wave in the air showing you are out.
- This audio(.wav) file
may help you prepare for the game.
What to Bring
- Goggles!
Even if you show up nude, without a gun, you will still be
required to bring, borrow, or rent goggles! Make sure the goggles make a full seal
with your face. You can't use shooting glasses.
- Guns
Bring your guns, charged batteries, gas, and BB's.
If you don't have these things, bring money to rent/buy them.
- Money
Does the field charge a fee? Need to buy BB's?
- Outdoor equipment for outdoor games: bug spray, sun screen.
- Food & water
Remember to keep yourself hydrated--drink before you're thirsty.
You'll work up an appetite, at least bring a snack.
- Camouflage
If you've got it, wear it. Military camo, hunter's camo whatever.
- Boots
Indoors or outdoors, ankle support is important. You'll need
good tread outdoors--especially if it rained recently.
It's suggested that you break in your boots before you
wear them in a game.
- Hat
A boonie hat can come in handy to keep bugs out of your hair,
sun off your face, maybe minimize the light reflecting off your goggle lens.
- Gloves
Protect your hands from stickers, splinters, itchy plants, and
flying BB's. Try to choose something that gives you a good non-slip grip.
- Dead rag
Not a necessity, but helpful. This is just a brightly-colored rag
you use to wave in the air, indicating that you have been shot, and that
further BB's will only serve to make you angry. 8-) Unused red oil
rags are cheap and useful for this task. Make sure this is stuffed
away from view during the game, but quickly accessible.
